Longwood University Videos

While working toward an undergraduate degree, I've had the pleasure of working with the Longwood University Public Relations office as a student videographer. Here are a few of the videos I've help produce, edit, and film.

This time lapse/stop motion video was created during Halloween to honor CHI, the oldest continuous service organization at Longwood. CHI's symbol is the Rotunda, whose four columns represent the four phases fo student life - social, recreational, intellectual, and spiritual. CHI is a secret society whose essential purpose is to promote and maintain a spirit of cooperation among students in every phase of college life.

Every year a video is made to welcome the new incoming class of freshmen to Longwood University. Our student video crew filmed, edited, and produced this video for the 2014 - 2015 school year.

In collaboration with Longwood Athletics, this Shake It Off parody video was made to hype up the Lancer community. Plus, who doesn't have fun dancing to Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off"

Rock the Block is an annual block party that brings the Longwood and Farmville community together for music, food, and fun! Here is a little glmpse of the action!

Videos

In pursuing my undergraduate degree, I've been able to produce many videos for class as well as for fun. Here is a sample of some of the video work I've been a part of.

My first attempt at documentary style film. This documentary followed around one of Longwood's most inspiriational and well respected communications professor, Jeff Halliday. Myself and 2 other students shared producer, editor, and camera-man responsibilities.

This short tutorial video was made for class to show compentence in an area of our production studio at Longwood University. I filmed, edited, and produced this video to show basic switiching compentence for the Ross Carbonite switcher in French Studio.

As part of my final project for my Media Production class, a group of students and I were required to create a video for an organization on campus. My production group decided to make a video highlighting a new organization, the Ultimate Frisbee team. I edited this video to show just how much fun the team was having, and to introduce the team to the greater Longwood community.

Every year, senior Communication Studies majors are required to conduct research to complete their undergraduate degree. The department asked me to create a short video, with 2015 graduates giving advice and words of encouragement for the class of 2016, as they begin their research for graduation.

A short sample of news style work. I produced, filmed, and edited this news piece for my Media Production class.

This video was created for the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life. Every spring sorority recruitment counselors help young women find their homes in Greek life. I produced this lip-sync video as a fun way for the recruitment couselors to reveal their affliations to the women going through the recruitment process.

As part of a senior graduating project, I was required to do a documentary on a subject of my choosing. The subject had to be pitched to the class and accepted as a viable topic. My partner (Connor Niver '16) and I choose to do our documentary on the Hardcore music scene, the culture, the people, and what it is they get out of the music. The following is a trailer for our documentary, set to release summer 2016.

My first attempt at documentary work. A micro-documentary that takes a look into the hardcore punk subculture through the eyes of fans. The power of music is a powerful thing, and while many misunderstand hardcore music, there are many more who rely on it in their lives.

Documentary Work

TKW Presents

Early in 2017, I began helping a friend, Thomas Welker, on his personal hip-hop enthusiast project, TKW Presents . I edit videos for his YouTube channel, centered around different hip-hop topics. Footage is collected and edited under fair use, using Adobe Premiere, baked images were made with After Effects, as well as original graphics and animations.

Working with The Biscuit Factory, I've been able to learn a lot about producing non-fiction narratives and professional television shows. The Biscuit Factory is a boutique production company, that has allowed me to work with various responsibilities including assistant editing, graphics, media management, stock research, licenses and release forms, and show deliverables to the network.
